Happy National Pi Day! Pi is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, commonly approximated as 3.14 (which also happens to be today’s date). A pie is in circle form and is usually a sweet or savory baked dish, typically with a top and base of pastry. As an ode to the mathematical wonder Pi, we’re going to talk about Pie!
Pure Joy’s Farm to Table Pie Station is an event fave. After all, who doesn’t like PIE?! In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, brides and grooms are opting for more untraditional dessert options and our Pie Station has been a smash. Just beware the traditional bride and groom cake feeding/face smashing doesn’t turn into pie throwing. Remember to take cover if that happens. ;)
Each of our pies are hand made with flaky crusts and served with Vanilla Ice Cream. We shop at our local farmer’s market and get only the best looking ingredients then proceed to make the delicious pie fillings. Some of our pie options: Local Apple, Peach, Berry, Key Lime, Coconut Cream, Pecan or an absolute favorite - Old Fashioned Cheesecake Pie with a Sour Cream Topping! The last one’s an absolute winner and if you’re interested in learning how to make this cheese pie deliciousness, check out our recipe HERE.
We catered an event last weekend that had a crowd pleasing Pie Station. Monday morning when we got into the office, we received this from the bride…
“We cannot begin to tell you how wonderful you made our wedding. It wasn’t the food alone, it was the service and the little touches. We are on our way for a small honeymoon up in Big Sur…We were wondering if there was any way to purchase more Cheese Pie. Jeff ate 4 pieces… it was what everyone was talking about. ~Julie & Jeff ”
And the crowd goes wild! Make your guests happy and get a pie station for your next event. Happy Pi Day Everyone! Now go out and make that delicious Old Fashioned Cheesecake Pie.
