It’s all in the title. Gluten Free. Vegetarian. Darn Delicious! We catered a multicultural wedding where the Bride came from a Scottish background and the Groom, Indian. We created a menu that everyone would enjoy while catering to the many dietary restrictions and gosh darn, it ended up being delicious!!
Imagine you’re at this beautiful, colorful wedding and the ceremony has ended. You walk over to the outdoor reception area and there you’re greeted by a Pure Joy smile and a platter of Baked Artichoke Bottoms with Lemony Parmesan Filling. The waiter says, “they’re gluten free,” with a smile. You take one, it’s heavenly. Another wonderful Pure Joy waitress walks by with another tray of passed appetizers. “Tandoori Tofu & Chicken Spears with Minted Mango Yogurt Dip, also gluten free.” You savor every morsel and seek out more gluten free deliciousness…
Walking around you spot a beautifully decorated action station. A chalkboard sign says Chapati Flatbread Station. Here, you help yourself to Fresh House made Chapatis topped with Farmer’s Market Organic Veggies, Cheeses, Garlic Oil, Pesto & other Vegan Options.
After meeting and greeting with all the fun folks around you, it’s time to take a seat. Everyone is presented with a plated salad of Farmer’s Market Fresh Vegetables and Heirloom Tomato Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette. Hearth Baked Breads and Rolls with Lavender Pressed Sweet Butter are on each table for everyone else who is having a gluten withdrawal. After your plated salad, you walk over to the bountiful farm to table buffet and get a little of everything:
Black Lentil Dal Coconut Rice Farmer’s Market Fresh Local Vegetables with Indian Chili Spiced Yogurt Sauce & mild spiced Yogurt Dip
Palak Paneer House Made Paneer with Spiced Spinach
A Variety of Autumn Heirloom Potatoes & Eggplants Grilled and finished in the oven with Maldon Salt, Pink Peppercorns & Toasted Coriander Seeds
Lamb Raan (this one’s not vegetarian…gotta have something for the meat lovers too!) Superb Roasted Butterflied Lamb Marinated 72 hours in Yogurt, Mango, Garam Masala, Garlic, Lime and Fresh Ginger Mint Chutney, Onion Tarka
Lastly, for dessert we served up Mounds of Local Strawberries with Warm Belgian Chocolate Fondue and had a Candied Hazelnut and Bittersweet Chocolate Semifreddo Station. It was delightfully scrumptious. Gluten Free and Vegetarian plates have never been more delicious.
